Russia will not reduce its nuclear arsenal. This was a response from Moscow to the adequate request from U.S. President Barack Obama. Not so long ago, the head of the White House sent a letter to Vladimir Putin, in which he offered Russia to cut the production of nuclear weapons. It should be said here that the amount of nuclear weapons in Russia is a lot less than that in the United States.
The refusal of the Russian leader was justified by the fact that the reduction of nuclear arsenals was not profitable for Russia. Such a move would promote the superiority of the U.S. in the field of high-precision weapons. Moscow would take up the move only in case of absolute advantage.
It is worth adding that the Russian General Staff has said before that Moscow had enough opportunities to neutralize the global missile defense system of the United States. Moreover, Washington's requests to reduce Russia's nuclear potential can play against the Americans, since they can be seen as an attempt to undermine the defense of the Russian Federation - even through diplomatic means only.
