It may sound disgusting or fishy, but that's exactly what's on the menu on expensive resort and restaurant around the world.

These coffee are called Black Ivory Coffee and Kopi Luwat.

What is Black Ivory Coffee?

Black Ivory Coffee or Elephant Dung Coffee is a specialty brew made with beans digested and "naturally refined" by Thai elephants.

According to a release, the off-kilter process engenders the beans with a special quality:

Research indicates that during digestion, the enzymes of the elephant break down the coffee protein. Protein is one of the main factors responsible for bitterness in coffee, the less protein the less bitterness.

Only about 50 kilograms of the stuff are available for purchase, each one will cost the adventurous drinker $1,100 per kilogram, that is about $50 a cup.

What is Kopi Luwat?

Kopi Luwak or Cat Poop Coffee is made from Asian palm civet poop, it is expensive too yet high in demand.

The process are, this cat-like animal ingests the coffee cherries needed for this bizarre delicacy, but doesn't digest them. The animal passes the beans through its digestive tract to be picked up by waiting humans.

This natural digestive process is what gives civet coffee its supposed purity and smooth taste, according to report. Natural enzymes in the mammal's intestines make the beans less acidic.

Civet coffee can set your average coffee drinker back $60 for a four ounces of beans or a $10 or more a cup.

So, how dare are you going to taste it for a rare and gold price coffee?
