At the recently held conference on the study of the moon specialist Kevin Makkigan cosmic chemistry made a controversial statement in which he claimed that the concentration of the isotope of oxygen on Earth should be higher than today's present percentage in our atmosphere. Well known that oxygen is the most common chemical element by mass in the earth, and 99.8% of the oxygen in our planet, is the isotope oxygen-16. The remaining mass necessary for a stable, but extremely rare isotopes: oxygen-17 and oxygen-18.
Until recently it was not known what proportions isotopes exist in the solar system initially. However, analysis of the solar wind has shown that the concentration of oxygen in the Sun-16 is significantly higher than on Earth. So it turns out that some of the oxygen in some strange way "stolen" from the planet. Explanation for this is not yet offered. Scientists have put forward vague version of that at the stage of formation of the planets from protoplanetary gas and dust, "some unknown process" has resulted in the release of oxygen-16. The idea, frankly, needs some work. But if we assume that the oxygen was deliberately deflated some ancient civilization, previously lived on the land and to colonize other worlds, then everything falls into place. It is possible that now they breathe "aliens" are long forgotten about their homeland - our blue planet. Everything can be ...
